Flexible and online academic and student support

Our teaching and support is delivered to meet the needs of students who choose to travel to campus. We provide a wide range of support, accessible on and off-campus, including the resources you need to learn. This includes online career support, digital and online learning and teaching resources and our 24-hour online academic guidance system, Studiosity. Our world-class Library is open 24 hours a day at key points in the year and our teaching timetables are also designed with commuting students in mind.

The Roehampton Students' Union and our Colleges run events specifically to provide opportunities for Roehampton students living off-campus to access additional support, and meet and socialise with other students. During Welcome Week, we run dedicated sessions for commuting students.

Dedicated bus services

The University of Roehampton campus benefits from being at the heart of a busy network of transport links, with around 20 buses an hour serving our main site and even more services to Whitelands site, providing links to Barnes station, Richmond, Putney, Clapham Junction and more.

We also have our own dedicated free bus service, exclusively for our students and staff, that runs from our campus to Barnes Station. See here for a full timetable. This service runs roughly every 20 minutes. From September 2021 the service will be extended to run direct to Wimbledon Station, connecting to the London tram network and overland train services.

Plenty of options by train, tube, car and cycling

Roehampton is in the heart of south-west London, with plenty of options to get around the capital and beyond. We are within a short (10-minute) walk of Barnes station, which has regular trains run to Waterloo, Clapham Junction, Hounslow, Richmond and more. We are a short bus ride from Putney Bridge, a tube station on the District line, and have a free dedicated student bus service. As a student, you can get 30% off the cost of Transport for London services.

We also offer a range of facilities for cyclists, including plenty of secure storage areas for bikes, shower facilities and lockers for students to use. We also have free car parking available on-campus, first-come first-served basis for students, and reserved parking for students with disabilities. Please see our parking FAQs for more information.

Tailored facilities

All four of our colleges have spaces specially designed for commuting students to relax, study and eat. These include College Kitchens, which have lockers and comfortable seating, along with fridges and microwaves to store and reheat food, and Pocket Lounges, areas with soft furnishings and powerpoints for you to charge your laptop or phone. There are are also Touchdown Spaces, with powerpoints for laptops, and chairs and tables.

The kitchens, lounges and Touchdown Spaces are located conveniently across both campuses and all four colleges. Additionally, our wide variety of cafés, dining halls and study spaces are open to all students.

Car parking

Car parking is available for University of Roehampton students on campus from September 2021. Take a look at our car parking FAQs for more information.
